First of the 3rd

St Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri

A few reflections on my historical beginnings for later compilation into other family documents.

Traditional birth was apparently not on my agenda when it was time for me to come into this world.

The story my mother tells is that I started to come into the light, returned to the warmth of the womb, turned around and started to come again.  The doctor then decided a cesarean section would be the best option to handle the situation.  The third cousin born to the third son of my grandparents, I was the first child to my relatively young parents, who had only recently married in February of the same year.

All of this took place at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.  The old place no longer exists at 101 Memorial Drive, having been torn down sometime around 2015, and replaced by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.  I like the old building better and still recall roaming its halls when other family members were lingering.
