Random Retaliation

Today, I was informed that one of the people that I had recently attempted to collaborate with on a project had lodged a complaint that I was intimidating.

It seems a certain individual does not like people questioning her work, which I had done while investigating a process.  Fault had been found with the process, resulting in the loss of several thousand dollars for our firm.

The individual turned cold and uncooperative since that finding, with icy communications or outright refusal to produce information required for further research.

Apparently, I also asked her about partying in New Orleans, which I had never spoken about to her at all.  While conversing with her and another, we talked briefly about different food and things to do there, and nothing more.

This is all somewhat of a surprise, but then, not so much.  It is the nature of my role, recognized by the individual that told me all of this.  It is my job to ask lots of questions surrounding process and procedure.

Apparently, I found a serious deficiency in process and procedure, and now, retaliation.

That's what I get.

Follow up from the next morning, email composed but not sent.

It is probably better to leave well enough alone.

As you might expect, I have gone from stunned speechless to incredulous in the past 24 hours.

It takes a moment to process something like this.

I feel as though I am owed an apology, though am quite sure that will never happen.

Those following this course care very little about the effect of their actions on others. They only care about themselves.

Having enjoyed the opportunity of collaborating with just about every walk of life throughout my career, I believe this to have very little to do with "culture."

As for New Orleans, and any other purported conversations, the only conversation regarding New Orleans was in the presence of VPES, and as mentioned, we were talking about food or some such nonsense.

All other conversations with this individual have in full public view or documented in email. The latter would demonstrate her shift to an uncooperative and a general condescending tone shortly after identifying multiple defects in the billing process that resulted in lost revenue.

I spoke with CAPO about this at the time, who in turn spoke with CFO, who labeled the situation a cultural problem then, as well. Again, I find that very unlikely, or at least, not the sort of culture most would assume.

Individual continues to disrupt business continuity by refusing to "Reply to All" if yours truly is on the message thread.

Email sent by another requesting validation of a process replied to, but yours truly dropped from the response.
